I grew up in Dartmouth but moved away 24 years ago. Every time I'm back the clams and chips at John's lunch are an essential item on the *must* list. I missed it last time six years ago when I was here after my dad passed. The last time before that was seven years ago when he and I both had the clams here. Today they were even better than I remember. Thank you for the memories and thank you for the food. I have traveled the world and eaten in restaurants with stars and hats in their ratings. I'll tell anyone who asks that nothing compares with (or is as good) as the clams at John's.

I heard about John's lunch from some classmates at NSCC Waterfront Campus and it is great because it is just down the street. I've been there quite a few times so far and the food has been superb every time! No wonder this place has been voted Best Fish & Chips in the whole country! The staff is very friendly, especially Fotis, whom I met during my last visit there. I had never met the guy in my life and he came right over and patted me on the shoulder and asked how everything was. I love the friendly environment and I love the great food. I'm looking forward to many more visits. Thinking about Fish & Chips is making me hungry... I may have to stop in tonight hahaha

The clams and fish are the benchmark as far as I'm concerned! I live over an hour away and if were looking for seafood we make the drive! I've been eating john's since 1980!! Thanks for the great food and fast friendly service over all these years!

Awesome!! Just as my colleagues had told me. Fish was fresh and the fries were out of this world. I'll be back!

You would think that our opinion would not be valid since we live in a land lock American state that is a desert. We are avid travelers and have been sampling fish and chips around the world for over 30 years. John's Lunch ranks up with the finest places to be had in our opinion. The haddock was moist and buttery, sealed in a very crisp batter. The chips are crisp and perfect with malt vinegar. We give John's Lunch two thumbs up. We must also swoon over the rice pudding. Good to the last spoonful!

Gary from Cowbay took me there for my first visit to Nova Scotia in September 2014. He said he has been eating here for years, knows everyone and loves the food. My favorite is the Seafood Platter and everything was delicious! I also like the lightly battered fried clams and their pizza which was light and crisp with great toppings. I hope to visit Nova Scotia again and eat at my favorite place "John's Lunch".
